What are Ocular Prosthetics?

Often referred to as a glass or fake eye, ocular prosthetics is the process of designing and sculpting a replacement eye or covering using a shell prosthesis in the event of loss or a damaged eye. Working with a highly trained ocularist is important to receive the quality care and realistic outcome every patient deserves.

Approaching each unique situation with the utmost compassion and sensitivity, Global Prosthetics strikes the delicate balance of art and science to create beautiful and comfortable eye replacements. Each eye is custom made for our patient. Success is based on the collective care of our team in collaboration with the patient's eye care professional to provide the very best service to all of our patients.

When creating a new prosthesis, we take into consideration all of the delicate features of the patient's face and eyelids to produce the most natural looking results possible. We incorporate the use of digital photography and direct interaction with the patient to create the prosthesis. We then carefully craft the prosthetic capturing the smallest details, color, and life-like features resulting in a quality and realistic product.

We also encourage our patients to wear eye glasses with fortified pressure resistant lenses to protect both their prosthesis and the remaining functional eye.
